Comes across as well presented, determined and enthusiastic
with natural charm and a good sense of humour.
At school Tala thoroughly enjoyed Netball and Computer Literacy
Programmes. Tala was a counsellor in standard 9, a prefect
in matric as well as a member of the SRC (student representative
counsel).
After school Tala enrolled at the University of Cape Town,
first completing a one-year bridging course, which enabled
her to complete her B.Sc Degree, specialising in Systems Engineering.
Tala did the bridging course as part of her determination
to show that she has what is takes to make it in the predominantly
'Man's world of IT'. For her third year project Tala was involved
in the development of the university administration system.
This system included the generation of student reports, timetables
and booking system for lecture halls etc
During her studies Tala continued playing Netball, and did
part time work as a Dinning Hall Co-ordinator for the residences.
Furthermore Tala worked as a Tutor in Computer Literacy, training
the first year medical students in basic MS applications such
as Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Tala attended a training
workshop at the University of Cape Town, in order to be certified
as a Tutor.
Tala rates her C++ skills a good and aspires to build on her
existing skills to become a Systems Engineer in future.
