Metaldyne Chooses Compuware Covisint Portal and Messaging for Competitive Advantage and Cost Savings

Compuware has announced that global automotive supplier Metaldyne Corporation has purchased Covisint Communicate portal services and Covisint Connect hosted integration services. Covisint will help Metaldyne improve the sharing of information and collaborative business processes with suppliers.

Metaldyne, a Plymouth, Tier I automotive supplier, chose the Covisint solution as a single point of contact for supplier and customer communications. Additionally, Metaldyne wanted to eliminate redundant infrastructure and achieve quantifiable cost savings over implementing an in-house solution. A study by AMR Research indicated that, by using Covisint Communicate, portal development costs could be reduced by 80 percent and portal operating costs by 50 percent.

"We will leverage Covisint's understanding of the automotive industry and standardised solutions to support more efficient and cost-effective business processes," said Jeff Beringer, Vice President and CIO, Metaldyne. "Where we had multiple systems and service providers, Covisint's Industry Operating System provides an integrated approach to controlling our customer and supplier communications. It also provides us with a strategy and platform for interoperability."

Covisint Communicate provides Metaldyne with a stable workplace that insulates suppliers from internal technology changes, system migrations and disparate systems. It also offers a single portal location and a single sign-on ID and password for access to internal applications and information that suppliers need to conduct business with Metaldyne. Covisint Connect will provide Metaldyne with a single connection for the company's computers to exchange data with the computers of its partners.

"Metaldyne needed to pull together disparate parts of its multiple systems into a single, highly functioning and collaborative platform," said Bob Paul, President and CEO of Compuware Covisint. "Metaldyne is one of 18 automotive suppliers that has recently selected Covisint as a supplier interoperability platform."

Covisint, a subsidiary of Compuware Corporation, provides technology and professional services for the global automotive industry to share information between business partners. The Covisint Industry Operating System a platform for collaboration enables manufacturers and suppliers to reduce costs, increase efficiency, enhance quality and improve time to market.
